Syed Mushtaq Ali 2018: Delhi Thrash Team Rajasthan to Clinch the Title

Delhi won the domestic T20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament as they defeated Team Rajasthan by a huge margin of 41 runs at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Delhi won the toss and chose to bat first. The Delhi team made a cautious start to their innings. However, they lost both their openers in the space of three deliveries. Gautam Gambhir was dismissed first as he was clean bowled on 27 off 23 balls.

Rishab Pant, who has been in exceptional form in the tournament and looked dangerous in the match as well was also removed in the fifth over for 13 on seven deliveries. Dhruv Shorey and Unmukt Chand then got together in the middle to rebuild the innings. The duo was then involved in a 48 runs partnership before Shorey stepped down and was stumped of Deepak Chahar’s bowling.

Unmukt Chand who has been quiet throughout the tournament made complete use of the occasion and made a well-made half-century before he was trapped in front of the wickets by Khaleel Ahmed on 53. Delhi managed to score 153/6 in their 20 overs.

Ahmed and Chahar picked up two wickets each for Team Rajasthan.

In reply, Rajasthan was unable to have a solid start at the top as they lost the wicket of Ankit Lamba for just one. Another opener Aditya Garhwal was the only batsman to have made an impact in the innings as he scored 52 off 36 deliveries. Mahipal Lomror was the second highest run scorer with 17 runs. Team Rajasthan was dismissed for a low score of 112 in 19.1 overs.

Captain Pradeep Sangwan, Kulwant Khejroliya and Pawan Negi picked up two wickets each. While Subodh Bhati, Nitish Rana, Lalit Yadav and Milind picked up one wicket each.
