T10 League: Maratha Arabians Appoint Virender Sehwag as Batting Coach

Virender Sehwag has named as the batting coach of Maratha Arabians in the T10 League.

The former India opener, Virender Sehwag is set to get appointed as the batting coach of Maratha Arabians in the T10 League.

Virender Sehwag captained the team last season

In the previous season, Virender Sehwag was captaining the same side. However, his performance during the last edition of T10 League was not up to the standards, as he played only match in the tournament.

In that match, he was trapped in front of the wicket by Shahid Afridi of Pakistan. In the second match, he decided not to bat. Parvez Maratha, who is the co-owner of the Maratha Arabians’ said,

“We have decided to bring in Sehwag as the batting coach, and it is difficult to imagine the Maratha Arabians without Sehwag — who led the team last year,”

From the bowling perspective, Parvez Maratha revealed they did not go for any change. Wasim Akram who is known as one of the greatest left-arm speedsters will be doing the job as a mentor of the team.

“I spoke to Sehwag recently, and he has agreed to take up the new role. He wanted to help out the batsmen, and we are looking forward to it,” Khan said.

Amongst the new picks, the franchise went for sensational leg-spinner from Afghanistan, Rashid Khan. Another one of their fresh picks is Australian all-rounder James Faulkner.

The retained players

The franchise retained most of the players who were playing the last season. In the grand finale of the previous tournament, Maratha Arabians suffered the defeat at the hands of Kerela Kings.

Some of the important retained players are England’s Alex Hales, and the Windies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo. Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal will be doing the duty behind the wickets for the team.

Rashid Khan opens about the new tournament

Rashid Khan while talking about his inclusion in the new tournament said,

“I am incredibly excited to be playing for Maratha Arabians in the second season of the T10 League. After having played Twenty20 cricket all over the world, I was looking forward to a challenge.”
