T20 World Cup: ICC Members Not Asking For Re-Scheduling

The T20 World Cup is a major tournament in 2020. But with the novel coronavirus scare bringing the world to a standstill it might also effect the marquee tournament slated to take place in Australia. ICC, the global governing body, is still to make a call on the commencement of the event.

Planning for event to go ahead as per schedule: ICC

The T20 World Cup is slated to take place from October, 2020. However, the clouds of uncertainties continue to hover over the tournament. But according to ANI, no board members have asked for a change in schedule.

The ICC, in a statement has said that, the T20 World Cup as for now is scheduled to take place from its original date.

“Nothing has changed since the board meeting release and no member is asking for a date change as of now,” the source told ANI.

“In response to the ongoing coronavirus crisis, the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Local Organising Committee is monitoring the situation closely with relevant authorities, and will continue to do so,” ICC had said in a statement.

“The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place from 18 October – 15 November 2020 in seven venues across Australia. We are planning for the event to go ahead as scheduled,” the statement added.
