Taapse Pannu To Play Lead Role In Mithali Raj's Biopic

Bollywood actress Taapse Pannu is expected to portray Mithali Raj in her Biopic as reported by Mumbai Mirror. Pannu had recently played a lead role in Soorma which was based on the true story of India’s hockey star Sandeep Singh. Thus, the actress could be part of another Sports film. Mithali Raj is one of the most successful Indian women players and she recently completed 20 years of International career.

Raj is currently the captain of the women side in the One Day International format. Meanwhile, according to sources close to the development, it is learnt that the project has drawn a lot of interest since it was announced by Viacom in September 2017.

Raj has an illustrious career.

However, Taapse Pannu is yet to sign the film but it is reported that she has agreed to do the film.

“The formalities will be done once the studio has a director on board. They have also locked the story but the script is still being developed,” said the source as quoted by Mumbai Mirror.

Meanwhile, Mithali Raj has always been instrumental in the success of the team. She is also regarded as one of the best batswomen in the game. The talisman batswoman is the leading run-scorer in ODI format. The right-hander has scored 6720 runs in the 203 ODI matches at an impressive average of 51.29. The veteran batter has also played 10 Test matches for the Indian team.

Furthermore, the right-hander has amassed 2364 runs at an average of 37.52. Hence, Mithali Raj has been the most consistent batswoman in the game.

On the other hand, Mithali Raj also led India to the final in the 2017 World Cup. Mithali Raj was recently in the news when she was dropped from the semifinal against England in the Women T20 World Cup. Raj was under the scanner when coach Ramesh Powar claimed that Raj plays for herself only.
