Taijul Islam Comes In As Concussion Substitute For Nayeem Hasan

Team India fast bowler dominated the proceedings with the pink as they took honours in the opening two sessions of the historic day-night Tests in Kolkata. Ishant Sharma picked a fifer and with good supports from Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami, the host bowled out the Bangla Tigers for 106 runs. Shami struck twice on the helmet of Bangladeshi batters forcing them to go out of the field. While Mehidy Hasan came out as a substitute for Liton Das, Taijul Islam came as a replacement for Nayeem Hasan.
The visitors were in all tatters after opting to bat first at the jam-packed Eden Gardens. Ishant claimed five while Umesh and Shami picked three and two respectively to dominate the Bangladesh batsmen. They never looked in control over things with the batters struggling against the pink ball. Liton Das looked to counter-attack hitting five boundaries before a venomous bouncer from Mohammed Shami forced him to retire hurt.

Liton had to rush to the nearby hospital alongside the physio. Moments after that Shami handed another injury and this time to Nayeem Hasan. The Indian Cricket Team portrayed a spirit of cricket when Indian physio Nitin Patel came out to check on the injured batsman. Patel cleared the batsman to continue batting before Bangladesh were all out for mere 106 runs.
However, Nayeem Hasan couldn’t continue for long and Taijul Hasan came out as a concussion substitute. This is the first instance when two concussion substitute has been used in a single match. Also, this is the fifth instances since the ICC introduced the use of concussion substitute. Out of the five, four have been against India; the latest being Nayeem Hasan.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has got India off to a steady start after losing Mayank Agarwal. The Karnataka batsman, who was coming back from a double century looked in good rhythm before getting out to Al-Amin Hossain. India were at 35 for one before going to tea.
