India women’s wicketkeeper Taniya Bhatia has opened up after reaching the semi-final of the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Team India beat the Kiwis by four runs to win their third consecutive game in the tournament.
This victory has sent the team into the semi-finals of the competition making them the first team to reach this far in the competition. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side also registered comprehensive victories against Australia and Bangladesh.
Shafali Verma was awarded the Player of the Match award for her destructive innings of 46 runs off just 34 balls. This is Shafali’s second consecutive award after Poonam Yadav bagged it in the first game. India is on a fine run in the tournament and is one of the strongest contenders to lift the trophy this year.

“We’re in a really positive position,” said Taniya after the match. “We’ve been playing well ever since the tri-series. I think we’ve got a lot better as a team in working out how to handle and read situations well.”
Taniya added, “The results are in our favour, but we need to keep up the momentum. If we do that, we will do well and hopefully reach the finals.” “We’re playing well, it’s just one or two odd games where our batters failed to perform, but I think Shafali is giving us a good start and the rest of us batters will take up responsibility,” said Taniya.
India became the first team to book a spot in the semi-final of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 with their win over New Zealand and will be looking to make it four wins in a row in their last league-stage clash against Sri Lanka on Saturday.
