Sudeep Tyagi, the former Indian fast bowler, hailed former Indian captain and the 2011- World Cup-winner MS Dhoni and said that he stands out among all other Indian captains purely because of his ‘altogether different genre’.

Tyagi made his international debut under the leadership of MS Dhoni back in 2009 where he represented India in 4 ODIs and a solitary T20I. The right-hander said that the likes of former Indian captains Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly had their own style of captaincy but Dhoni’s genre was completely different.

There is no match to Dhoni’s cricketing mind. From the beginning, he used to think differently. Previous captains like Dada (Sourav Ganguly), Dravid, Anil Bhai (Anil Kumble) everybody had their own style of going about with things. But, Dhoni had a different genre altogether,” Sudeep Tyagi during a conversation with sports presenter Dr. Yash Kashikar on his Instagram Live show ‘Say Yash To Sports’

Sudeep Tyagi also played under Dhoni for the Chennai Super Kings and hailed the champion cricketer’s ability to think ‘out-of-the-box’

He used to think out of the box and the first time I got a chance to play under him in 2009, I knew he thought differently from others. It always felt like he will become a very successful captain in the future which he eventually did,” said Sudeep Tyagi.

MS Dhoni hasn’t played for India since the 2019 World Cup and with the T20 World Cup getting postponed, no one really knows whether we will see Dhoni in Indian colors again. Tyagi, however, believes that MS Dhoni should make a return to the side for the 2021 T20 World Cup.

I think Dhoni should comeback in the side for the 2021 T20 World Cup. It will be good for him as well as the team because he brings in years of experience with him. Maybe after the World Cup he can take a call on his future.” he added.
