In reply to the chase of 168, Veerans were off to a sedate start. They lost V Subramania Siva early, and Vishal Vaidya and B Aparajith failed to put runs on the board inside the first six overs.

This followed a significant slump in the middle. The skipper Baba Aparajith scored a slow knock of 27 with Mokit Hariharan who got a figure of 34 off 27 balls.

So, Veerans eventually find themselves short of 11 runs against Siechem Madurai during the ongoing edition of TNPL.

Who said what

“We lost because we didn’t have a good powerplay, just got 32 runs. 168 was gettable. That was the plan, and we wanted a steady start after losing wickets in the previous game. Look to come back strong.” – Baba Aparajith, the losing skipper said.

“Last two years were bad. This year after the game against Chepauk, we regrouped and didn’t look back since then. It was a bad toss to lose. Bowlers are showing character on small grounds. Excellent thing going forward.” – D Rohit, the winning skipper maintained.
