Lasith Malinga Appointed as Sri Lanka’s T20I Skipper: Report

The report has cited that Veteran Sri Lanka bowler Lasith Malinga has been named as the captain of T20I team by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Wednesday (August 7).

Earlier, Malinga had bid adieu to the 50-over format by reiterated that he will set entire focus on the shortest format. He is also keen to prepare himself for the 2020 T20 World Cup scheduled in Australia.

Besides, Dimuth Karunaratne will lead the Islanders in the Test and One-day Internationals, respectively.

PCB Let Go Head Coach and Coaching Staff:

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday had decided to remove entire coaching staff. Also, head coach Mickey Arthur has been released alongside bowling coach Azhar Mahmood.

Earlier, the Cricket Committee had presented the status report before the chairman of the PCB, Ehsan Mani.

Following Pakistan failing to make it to the World Cup semi-final, the board had called for evaluation since 2017 when Pakistan won the ICC Champions Trophy under Sarfaraz Ahmed’s captaincy rein.

Besides, strengthen and conditioning coach Grant Luden, batting coach Grant Flower will not be part of the Pakistan team.

The board has decided not to renew any of the contracts following a detailed review.

Mickey Arthur Disappointed After PCB’s Axe:

Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur is frustrated after Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had decided to give an extension to him along with entire coaching staff.

Since 2016, Arthur had served Pakistan as a chief coach. It also saw him registering mixed results across formats. However, Pakistan has done well in the T20 fold to maintain the numero uno position.

Apart from Arthur, bowling coach Azhar Mahmood, batting coach Grant Flower and trainer Grant Luden will lose their contract as PCB is looking for a revamp in the coaching structure.

Arjun Tendulkar Picked for Vizzy Trophy by MCA for Mumbai:

Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar had made it to the Mumbai’s 15-man squad for the upcoming Vizzy Trophy. The open competition will commence from August 22 in Andhra Pradesh.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has revealed the name of 15 players with Hardim Tamore as a captain.

Earlier, Arjun, 19, had made his debut in the T20 Mumbai League. He had impressed many with his decent show.

Moreover, he is keen to make inroads to settle himself for first-class cricket. Arjun also has an experience of bowling to India batsmen in the nets, apart from representing MCC’s Young Cricketers in the United Kingdom (UK).

Sri Lanka Name Probable Squad for New Zealand Test Series:

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has named 22-man probable squad for the two-match Test series against New Zealand. The impending series will get underway on August 14 at the Galle Cricket Stadium.

However, the Lankan board has made it clear that the final 15 will be a part of the two-Test series.

Meanwhile, Dimuth Karunaratne will lead the Test side.
