New Zealand pace spearhead Trent Boult is one of the six cricketers from the nation partaking in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The ICC’s call to defer the 2020 T20 World Cup has boosted the chances of extravaganza taking place this year. Despite that, Trent Boult is unsure of his participation in the tournament.

After plying his trade for Delhi Capitals last year, Trent Boult was all set to play for Mumbai Indians this year alongside Mitchell McClenaghan. New Zealand’s captain Kane Williamson plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad while James Neesham and Lockie Ferguson’s franchises are Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders. The sixth player is Mitchell Santner who is with the Chennai Super Kings.
While the BCCI has fixed the window from September 26th to November 7th, the venue is yet to be decided. Trent Boult referred to all the whispers and the rumours around him but will arrive at a decision only after anything gets certain. In 33 IPL games, Boult has 38 wickets so far at 29.47.
“I’ve heard lots of whispers that it happening in this or that window, that it’s happening in (New Zealand), things seem to be changing almost every week but it’s just one of those things that I will have to let unfold,” Boult stated as quoted by tvnz.co.nz.
I’ll talk to the right people and then make that decision: Trent Boult
The left-arm seamer went on to say that he would consult the right people, keeping in mind his young family and conversing with his other fellow teammates, partaking in the competition. At the end of it, Boult cites time as a significant thing here.
“I’ll talk to the right people and then make that decision on what’s best for me, best for my cricket and obviously what’s best for my young family…there’s obviously a couple of other New Zealanders involved in that tournament – but it’s just going to have to be one of those ‘time will tell’ kind of things,” the Rotorua born conceded.
No one wants to be stuck inside a tent in the middle of winter training: Trent Boult
At the same time, the 30-year-old is desperate to go out there and play to the best of his abilities. Furthermore, he also wants the crowd to cheer and get behind them and does not wish to stay on the inside training.
“I want to be out there playing and doing the things that I know how to do …but it still looks like it’s going to be a wee while before crowds are screaming at us and being right behind us but I can’t wait as it’s been a long time between overs – no-one wants to be stuck inside a tent in the middle of winter training,” he concluded.
