Tri-Series, ZIM vs AUS, 3rd T20I: Twitter Breaks as Aaron Finch Hammers World Record Score
Updated - 03 Jul 2018, 05:38 PM
Australia’s T20I captain Aaron Finch continued from where he left against Pakistan. The combative right-hander was in a no-nonsense mood, as he clobbered his second T20I hundred off just 50 balls. In fact, Australian opener reached his 50-run mark from 22 balls.
Finch hammered a blistering 172 runs off 76 balls in the 3rd T20I against Zimbabwe in Harare, which is now the highest score by a batsman in a T20I game.
Thus, Finch was able to give another flying start to his team in the ongoing tri-series. The right-hander was able to hit the ground running with his magnificent innings.
The Aussie opener once again impressed with his pyrotechnics. Thus, Finch was able to lead from the front, as he launched his attack on the hosts.
Finch was on fire.
In fact, the depleted Zimbabwe bowling attack had no answers to Finch’s knock. They were taken to the cleaners by the attacking batsman, as Australia clobbered 229 for two in their first innings.
Interestingly, the 31-year old smashed 16 boundaries and ten maximums in his quickfire knock.
Meanwhile, Finch’s opening partner D’Arcy Short played second fiddle. The southpaw batsman scored 46 off 42 balls before getting dismissed. Also, Finch and Short forged the highest partnership for any wicket in a T20I game of 223 runs.
Australia was able to get the much-needed win against Pakistan on Monday. The Men in Yellow had thrashed the world number one team by nine wickets and with 9.1 overs to spare.
Australia has put their noses in front in their third match of the series. Thus, they are looking good for their second win. The ongoing tri-series is pivotal for the Australian team after their drubbing at the hands of their arch-rivals England.
Finch had also smashed a fine 68 off just 33 balls against Pakistan yesterday.
Here is how Twitter reacted to Aaron Finch blistering innings.
