In a beautiful gesture, former 14-time WWE Champion and the COO of WWE, Triple H has gifted a customised WWE Championship belt to the winners of 2017 Indian Premier League, Mumbai Indians.

The WWE superstar tweeted a picture of the belt with a message stating: “@MIPaltan @ImRo45 as promised, the @WWE Title is on its way… Congratulations! @WWEIndia.”

It should be remembered that just a day after the Mumbai-based outfit lifted the title, Triple H had posted a message on Twitter, hinting of a special gift for the champions.

“Congratulations, @mipaltan. @WWE has something headed your way! @WWEIndia,” Triple H had tweeted back then.

Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, became the first team to win the tournament thrice when they defeated Rising Pune Supergiant in a thrilling encounter at Hyderabad on May 21. The final between the Rohit Sharma-led side and Steve Smith-led side is being hailed as one of the best IPL finals till date.

After Rohit Sharma decided to bat first in the big match, his decision was looking destined to backfire when the Supergiant bowlers managed to restrict the two-time champions to a below par total. The Mumbai batsmen, who were looking in ominous form throughout the season, failed to click in the all-important clash as the team huffed and puffed to 129 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs. Krunal Pandya top-scored for them with 47 from 38 balls.

In reply, the Supergiant were looking well-set to overhaul the target as Steve Smith and Ajinkya Rahane added 54 runs for the second wicket. However, the Pune-based franchise’s ploy of adopting a cautious approach and not going for the kill cost them dear as they eventually fell short by 1 run.

The win, meanwhile, was historic not only for Mumbai Indians but also Rohit Sharma who became the first captain to lead a side to three IPL titles. The India opener, who was given the captaincy duties in 2013, won the title in his maiden season as the skipper before replicating it in 2015.
