Arjun Tendulkar, son of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, is following in the footsteps of his illustrious father as the youngster has been named in the India U-19 cricket team for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka.

While it will take nothing less than a herculean effort to get even close to what his father achieved on the cricket field, Arjun is definitely heading in the right direction under the guidance of his father.

The 18-year-old all-rounder Arjun has been picked for the four-day matches that India will play against the Island nation. Arjun, however, could not find a place in the one-day squad which will play five matches against Sri Lanka.

The southpaw was part of the core group of U-19 cricketers who attended the camp in Zonal Cricket Academy (ZCA).

India will travel to Sri Lanka next month (July) for the all-important series. Delhi’s Anuj Rawat will lead the side. On the other hand, Aryan Juyal will lead the team in one-day games.

Arjun has been grabbing the headlines for quite some time now.

Earlier this year, he made headlines after his brilliant debut in the Spirit of Cricket Global Challenge in Australia.

Playing for Cricketer’s Club of India (CCI) against Hong Kong Cricket Club (HKC) in a T20 match, he delivered an impressive all-round show. He scored 48 off just 27 balls before picking up four wickets in four overs.

Last year, the Indian team had invited him to the nets before the series against New Zealand when the players were readying themselves to face Trent Boult.

Arjun had also bowled for England batsmen at Lord’s while they were preparing for a series against South Africa.

During that, he had injured Jonny Bairstow with a toe-crushing yorker. Arjun Tendulkar had also bowled for the Indian team before their World Cup final against England.

Meanwhile, Twitter was quick to react to the news as they welcomed another Tendulkar in Indian cricket.
