India and debutant Afghanistan, who earned their Test status last year in June, are square off in a one-off Test match series starting on June 14 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

After posting a mammoth total with the bat, Indian bowlers came all guns blazing against the Afghans in the second session. Mohammad Shahzad got off to a quickfire start but soon departed courtesy a brilliant effort from Hardik Pandya. Since then, they lost wickets at regular intervals with all specialist bowlers taking their name to the wicket list.

Ishant Sharma, who had a good stint in the County showed his form as he cleaned Javed Ahmadi (1) with a ripper. The perfect inswinger from Ishant cuts the batsman in half and breaches his half-cocked defence.

Afghanistan were reeling at 35 when Umesh Yadav trapped young Rahmat Shah in front of the wicket. However, he was unlucky as the ball remained low and crashed onto his pads. Ishant picked his second as he once again cleaned Afsar Zazai at the same score.

Since then it India’s spinning duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who took on with the proceedings. Ashwin was spot on right from the start as he breached Afghan skipper Asghar Stanikzai‘s (11) defense.

Indian bowlers continued to dominate the proceeding as the visitors lost two more wickets to strive at 78 for 7. Experienced Mohammad Nabi (24) showed some defiance, however, didn’t last too long. Ashwin played with his patience and he gives up while playing a slog sweep.
