Promising batsman Manish Pandey, who has been out of the Indian senior team made a strong case for Asia Cup 2018 selection by performing exceptionally well in the recently-concluded Quadrangular series 2018. He remained unbeaten throughout the tourney to finish as leading run-scorer of the tournament.
The skipper of India B Manish Pandey led the team from front to lay hands over the title. Meanwhile, the chances for Pandey to represent India in Asia Cup has blossomed as well.
Manish Pandey scored 306* runs without being dismissed:
Furthermore, the classy right-handed batsman Pandey started the tournament with an unbeaten 95* runs in the first game against South Africa A. Moreover, he remained unbeaten to seal the game for India B.
Then in the second game against India A, Manish hasn’t got many runs to chase. Again, Pandey remained unbeaten on 21* to finish the game for India B.
The third game against Australia A, the Karnataka batsman scored a massive unbeaten 117* runs to his name when the odds were against the team.
However, he ended up on a losing side as Usman Khawaja smashed a brilliant tonne.
Coming to the finals of the tourney, he once again remained unbeaten in the chase of 225. But he scored a scintillating 73* runs to pouch championship for India B under his leadership.
All in all, Pandey delivered the goods when it matters the most. Probably, he made a strong case of himself to play for India in the Asia Cup 2018. If he tastes success in Asia Cup, perhaps, he might push a place in the ICC World Cup 2019.
Additionally, as Manish Pandey led from the front, India B won the final of Quadrangular series 2018 by nine wickets against Australia A.
