Once again, the Australian batsmen had a brilliant day on the field against the Virat Kohli-led Indian National Cricket Team. The likes of Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne and Alex Carey had a good time in the middle with the willow to help Australia reach a massive tally on the batting-friendly wicket. For India, Mohammed Shami was the star performer with the ball.

Getting into the details, initially, it was Aaron Finch, who once again won the toss, asked Indians to chase the tally. However, the decision turned out to be wrong when both the openers walked back for cheap scores to their name. Shami got the better off David Warner while miscommunication between the wickets saw Aaron Finch walk back to the pavilion.

Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne added 127 runs:

Just when things looked drifting away, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne once again constructed a wall of protection for the Australian team. The duo added 127 runs for the third wicket to bring Australia back into the hunt. However, the exceptional catch from Virat Kohli at covers helped India to get a breakthrough and the failure of Mitchell Starc up in the order saw India making a comeback into the game.

But, Alex Carey played a good hand of 35 off 36 balls alongside Steve Smith to deny the further hiccups for Australia. Unfortunately, he couldn’t continue, as he failed to control his temptation in Kuldeep’s over to give an easy catch in the extra-covers.

Despite wickets tumbling at one end, Steve Smith looked rock solid at the other end. He kept on piling runs for his side to help Australia reach a safe tally. Though he missed a century in the second ODI, the flamboyant batsman showed his stamina by hitting a stunning century in M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

For India, Mohammed Shami once again delivered the goods alongside Ravindra Jadeja while Jasprit Bumrah was economical. In the end, all they managed was 286 runs on the board.
