Prior to the start of the playoffs, Indian Premier League (IPL) witnessed an iconic moment for women’s cricket in India. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCC) decided to schedule an IPL-style exhibition match between Supernovas and Trailblazers featuring the who’s who of women’s cricket.

The two teams were lead by cricketing icons Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur. It was Harmarnpreet, who won the toss and elected to field first.

Mandhana’s Trailblazers started off their innings on a sad note by losing three quick wickets. The Punjab powerhouse dismissed her counterpart by plucking a brilliant catch out of thin air.

Veda Krishnamurthy emulated her captain perfectly by taking another stunner to dismiss Beth Mooney.

However, in the replays, it was clearly evident that Megan Schutt overstepped the crease.

Despite the evidence, the third umpire ruled the decision in favour of the fielding side, creating massive outrage on Twitter, following the trend of poor quality of fielding.

Later on, the likes of Suzie Bates, Jemimah Rodrigues pushed the Trailblazers score towards 130.

Chasing a moderate score, Mithali Raj and Danielle Wyatt gave a flying start to the Supernovas.

It all looked easy for the Supernovas before Ekta Bisht and Poonam Yadav changed the course of the game with their respective spells.

The game went down to the wire as Suzie Bates gave the edge back to the Trailblazers with a couple of wickets.

Concluding, at the end of the match, it was the Supernovas who held their nerves to pull off a thrilling three-wicket win.
