India displayed a clinical performance, as they defeated Australia by eight wickets to lift the ICC U-19 World Cup for the record fourth time.

Manjot Kalra’s brilliant unbeaten hundred and useful contributions from the top four batsmen helped India go past the target after the bowlers did a fine job to restrict Australia to a mere 216.

Australia witnessed a massive collapse batting first, as they lost six wickets for just 33 runs. Australia was sitting comfortably for a big score 183 for four in the 40th over. However, some tight bowling by Indian bowlers saw them get knocked off for just 216.

In reply, India got off to a brilliant start with openers Prithvi Shaw and Manjot Kalra looking determined to take the side home. The duo added 71 runs for the first wickets to lay the foundation for an easy chase. Shubman Gill took over from where he left in the last game, as he looked rock solid scoring runs with ease.

However, Australia sensed some chances after the dismissal of Gill, but Harvik Desai and Kalra took the game away from them. Kalra scored a brilliant hundred while Desai remained unbeaten on 47, as India crossed the line.

Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced cash rewards for the players and support staff after their impeccable run in the tournament.
