Young batting star Yash Dhull joined a select group of Indian batters, after scoring a brilliant century on his Ranji Trophy debut for Delhi in their ongoing match against Tamil Nadu on February 17, 2022.

Dhull, who recently, won the ICC U19 World Cup 2022, captaining the Indian team to their fifth youth title, also managed to find a buyer in the recent Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) mega auction. His home team Delhi Capitals bought the young star for INR 50 lakhs.

He had a tough campaign in the Caribbean as he recovered from COVID-19 and missed a major chunk of the tournament. However, once back, Dhull responded with a century in the semi-final against Australia and then led well in the final as India defeated England to clinch the title.

Dhull made his Ranji Trophy debut in the ongoing 2022 season for Delhi against Tamil Nadu at the ACA stadium in Barsapara. Tamil Nadu captain Vijay Shankar won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Sandeep Warrier proved his captain correct, as he struck twice in one over to remove opener Dhruv Shorey (1) and Himmat Singh for a golden duck. But Yash Dhull, on debut, counterattacked the Tamil Nadu bowlers, scoring his half-century in 57 balls. He also added 60 runs with Nitish Rana for the third wicket, who made 25.

He followed the footsteps of another U19 World Cup-winning captain, Prithvi Shaw, who had scored a century on his First-Class debut, for Mumbai in the semi-finals of Ranji Trophy 2016-17.
