As the Indian Cricket Team lost yet another final of an ICC event, the Indian fans on Twitter went mad at Virat Kohli’s captaincy. The New Zealand Cricket Team beat India in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final to become the first winner of the tournament on Wednesday in Southampton.

The win was historic for the BlackCaps as they managed to become the first team in the world to win the ICC World Test Championship. For team India, it was a rather forgetful event. After having topped the Test Championship points table for the majority portion of the tournament, the Indian team succumbed to the Kiwi pressure and choked out on the reserve day to lose yet another ICC trophy.

Twitter Lashes Out At Virat Kohli’s Captaincy

In a match marred with rain for almost 3 days, the Indian Cricket Team couldn’t capitalize on the chances and let go of the match. The Indian batsmen were at complete fault as they failed to score on the reserve day and carry the Indian innings forward in what turned out to be the best day for batting out of all the available days.

Eventually, the Kiwis were left with a target of 139 runs on the final day and the Kiwis chased it down comfortably in the end. Captain Kane Williamson led the chase from the front as he smashed a scintillating half-century and had a crucial partnership with Ross Taylor towards the end.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli also made some wrong calls that led to the demolition of team India as the Indian skipper could not prove himself to be spot on with his bowling changes and field placements. Moreover, Virat has so far failed to win any ICC trophy ever since he has been appointed as the Indian limited-overs captain in 2017. He has also been leading the Indian Test team since 2014.

Another failure in an ICC event left the fans baffled with Virat Kohli’s captaincy and the Indian fans lashed out at him on Twitter and demanded a change in the captaincy. The biggest name coined by the Indian fans was that of Rohit Sharma. Rohit has been the most successful captain in IPL history with 5 IPL titles to his name as a captain and 6 titles as a player.

Team India Once Again At The Helm Of Yet Another Defeat

The India National Cricket Team was at the helm of yet another ICC trophy defeat after having almost a decade of dominance in the ICC events. The journey began with India winning the inaugural 2007 T20 World Cup which was succeeded by the 2011 ODI World Cup and the 2013 Champions trophy acted as the cherry on the cake.

However, ever since then, the Men in Blue have failed to win an ICC event so far. They lost the 2014 T20 World Cup final against Sri Lanka. In 2016, the Indian Cricket Team lost the semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup against the West Indies. The most shameful defeat came against arch-rivals Pakistan in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy.

Then, the men in blue lost the semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019 against New Zealand and now, the final nail in the coffin has been slammed by New Zealand yet again as they went on to win the WTC final.

The ICC T20 World Cup 2021 is all set to take place in the month of October this year and if the Men in Blue fail to win the title yet again, the pressure on Virat Kohli to step down as the Indian captain will be immense. Rohit Sharma has had good stints as the Indian captain in the limited-overs format as he has led team India to the Asia Cup title in 2018 and the Nidahas Trophy title in 2018.
