India’s Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has had a great start to the Test championship. Rahane who was struggling with his form in the last two years was finally able to deliver the goods for the team. The stylish batsman scored a fine knock of 81 runs in the first innings of the first Test match against West Indies at Antigua. Subsequently, Rahane followed it with a fine century to finally break his hundred drought.

It was a much needed century for Rahane as he was not able to convert his fifties into substantial scores. This is the 10th Test century for the Indian vice-captain and it will give a shot in the arm to him.

Meanwhile, India had their backs against the wall in the first innings at 25-3 and Rahane scored a fine knock of 81 runs to help his team post 297 runs. Rahane was finally able to get to his hundred in the second essay as he showed his class. In fact, the right-hander scored only five fours in his knock and scored most of the runs in singles and doubles.

Both of them also went past the record of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly who had scored seven-century stands for the fourth wicket.

Subsequently, Rahane was able to add another hundred run stand with Hanuma Vihari. Vihari was able to score his second Test fifty as he gave good support to Rahane. Both the batsmen are looking in great form and they have put India in command of the Test match. The visitors lead by 378 runs and have put their noses in front.
