Twitter Reacts As Ton-up Glenn Maxwell Fires Australia To Series Win Over India

Glenn Maxwell scored his third T20I century as Australia thrashed India by seven wickets in the second T20I to clean sweep the series.
Chasing an imposing 191 to register their first T20I series win in India, Australia started on a shaky note. Siddharth Kaul drew the first blood by dismissing Marcus Stoinis before Vijay Shankar accounted for Aaron Finch to leave Australia reeling at 22 for 2. D’Arcy Short and Glenn Maxwell then once steadied the ship for the visitors with a 73-run stand. Shankar ended the stand by dismissing Short for 40.
Maxwell, however, continued to go strong as he scored his second consecutive fifty of the series. He collected 16 runs off the 16th over to bring down the equation to 44 from the last four overs. Kohli brought back Jasprit Bumrah to bowl the seventeenth over but Maxwell hit two fours to collect 12 runs off the over. He went on to complete a stunning century off just 50 balls as Australia cruised reached the target with two balls remaining. Maxwell’s knock was studded with 7 fours and 9 sixes.
An outstanding knock of 113* from Maxwell guides the visitors to a 7-wkt victory in the second T20I.

Earlier in the game, a whirlwind fifty from skipper Virat Kohli and a quickfire knock from MS Dhoni helped India post an imposing total of 190 for 4 in the allotted 20 overs. Continuing with the experimentation ahead of the World Cup, India rested Rohit Sharma and recalled Shikhar Dhawan. But while Dhawan failed to get going early on, KL Rahul was in his elements as he hit the Aussies all around the park.
Innings Break!
Kohli finishes it off in style. #TeamIndia post a formidable total of 190/4 (Virat 72*, Rahul 47) for Australia to chase.
Will #TeamIndia defend the total or will the Aussies chase it down? #INDvAUS pic.twitter.com/UanzfBKE0m

Rahul was the aggressor while Dhawan played the role of the second as the two added 61 runs in just 42 deliveries before the former departed for 47. Dhawan and Rishabh Pant departed in quick succession too as India found themselves 3 down for 74. However, a 101-run stand between Kohli and Dhoni helped India recover post a huge total. While Dhoni returned back after slamming 40 off 23. Kohli, on the other hand, remained till the end to guide India to 190. He scored 72 off 38 balls with the help of 2 fours and 6 sixes.

Two days after winning the award for the best T20 innings at the #ESPNcricinfoAwards for 2018, Glenn Maxwell may have already produced the award-winning innings for the 2019 edition as well. #INDvAUS

No batsman has ever adapted so effortlessly and splendidly across three formats as Virat Kohli… Adroitly attuned to beats and requisites of each format. Pure genius #INDvAUS @imVkohli
