Twitter Tears Apart India As New Zealand Thrash Them In Second Test
New Zealand crushed India by seven wickets to clean sweep the two-match series. The series defeat is India’s first in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship and first since the loss in England in 2018. Chasing 132, New Zealand crossed the line without facing any trouble whatsoever.
India had their back firmly against the wall when day three started as they were reeling on 90 for 6, leading New Zealand by just 97 runs. Rishabh Pant and Hanuma Vihari were the visitors’ last recognised batting pair when the play resumed and India’s chances pretty much depended on them.
However, the two could add only seven runs before Tim Southee accounted for Vihari. India could not even add any run to the scoreboard after Vihari’s dismissal before Trent Boult sent back Pant to reduce the tourists to 97 for 8 and all but seal their fate.
The final wicket falls, Bumrah is run out as he tries to keep Jadeja on strike.
Trent Boult finishes with figures of 4/28 ?
New Zealand need 132 to win, can India defend that? #NZvIND pic.twitter.com/apvNwKe3q2

Ravindra Jadeja played an unbeaten knock of 16 to make sure India cross the 100-run mark. The Virat Kohli-led side was eventually all out for 124, their lowest score in the dismal series. Cheteshwar Pujara was the top-scorer with 24. For the hosts, Boult was the pick of the bowlers, picking up four wickets while Southee accounted for three.
In reply, New Zealand chased down the total inside 36 overs by losing just one wicket. Tom Latham was the only wicket to fall but not before he slammed 52 off just 74 balls to end any hopes of a comeback from India. The tourists needed early wickets to turn the game but Latham and his opening partner Tom Blundell did not let that happen as they added 103 runs for the first wicket.
After Latham’s departure, Blundell reached his fifty too before he and Williamson joined their teammates in the dressing room. Ross Taylor and Henry Nicholls then scored the required runs to seal a memorable series win for their country.

The Indian team of 2010-11 survived some spells v peak Steyn bowling razor sharp outswingers at pace and Morkel on tracks that did more than enough as they had a quality batting line-up. Drew the series 1-1. Runs are precious in SEN #NZvIND

Fun Fact: Jasprit Bumrah is India's first number 11 batsman to be run out twice in Test career. Today vs NZ and previously vs England at The Oval in 2018. #NZvInd

It's time BCCI should regulate the pitches and conditions in away tours also in order to make matches interesting and avoid 3 day tests #NZvIND

Change of captain and coach needed. Apart from the Australian series we have performed well below the potential in all away series. How long can the arrogance in words tolerated when the deeds are pathetic? #NZvIND

Hats off to both sides at the #NZvIND test for stretching this out until the arrival of the passionfruit friands for afternoon tea in the Hagley Oval press teepee. Wind starting to test the moorings on occasion, but we'll endure. New Zealand 108-1, 24 runs required for victory.
