India pacer, Umesh Yadav, is all set to feature in the Irani Cup 2017/18, a report in TOI suggests.

The selectors are yet to name the squad for the premier tournament, but it has been confirmed that Umesh will feature for his state against a star-studded Rest of India team,

“It’s great to have him in the squad. Umesh has been bowling extremely well. He looks in good rhythm. His presence will boost our bowling attack,” a source told TOI.

Umesh was recently named in the India B squad for Deodhar Trophy, where he scalped five wickets in three games.

In recent times, he has lost his place in ODI team while wasn’t included in the playing XI in any of the three-Test that India played in South Africa.

Skipper Virat Kohli preferred Jasprit Bumrah over him, and the latter seems to all set to be a permanent man in the playing XI.

Irani Cup is an opportunity for Umesh to do well and send a timely reminder to selectors.

Rest of India squad has likes of Karun Nair (captain), Mayank Agarwal, Navdeep Saini, Anmopreet Singh, Prithvi Shaw and job will not be an easy one for Vidarbha.

In the latest news, R Ashwin has replaced Ravindra Jadeja in the Rest of India squad.

Jadeja is suffering from a side strain and needs a rest of one week.

He could have batted in the game but was not fit to bowl, the reason why he was ruled out.

Hence, selectors decided to name his replacement.

Meanwhile, Rest of India players will reach Vidarbha today (March 12), the report adds.

Irani Cup will be played from March 14 to 18 in Nagpur.

Th season will also mark an end to the domestic season, which started with Duleep Trophy, held in Uttar Pradesh.
