India and Bangladesh churned out an absolutely unforgettable clash at Colombo, to mark
the end of the Nidahas Trophy, a series meant to celebrate Sri Lanka’s Independence Day.

In what can be easily termed as the most riveting T20I in recent times, it was the men in blue
who held their nerves in an absolute cliffhanger of a contest. Needing a decent 167 to win
the Cup, India were rocked early with Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina failing, the latter
getting out for a duck.

Skipper Rohit Sharma went on from where he left in the previous game as his half century
kept India afloat. Number 4 batsman KL Rahul too played a couple of eye pleasing strokes,
before eventually being caught on the bowling off Rubel Hossain.

With Manish Pandey struggling and the required rate mounting, the pressure got to Sharma
as he was caught off Nizmul Islam, on the edge of the boundary.

All rounder Vijay Shankar, promoted up the order struggled colossally in his debut
international innings, as the cunning Mustafizur Rehman foxed him completely in the 18th
over.

With 34 needed off 2 overs, the game was in Bangladesh’s favor, before an absolute
masterclass from Dinesh Karthik turned the game around. Having clobbered Rubel Hossain
for 22 runs off the penultimate over, the equation came down to 12 off the last one.
Soumya Sarkar having bowled well till the last ball, needed to defend 5 in order to clinch the
trophy. A clean strike from Karthik however, right above extra cover went the distance as the
six clinched the game for India. It sparked off wild celebrations from the Indian camp as India
sealed the series.

The game though, witnessed another funny moment as Indian commentator and batting
great Sunil Gavaskar took a dig at the Bangladesh team with his own version of the Nagin
dance in the commentary box.

This enraged a lot of Bangladeshi supporters on social
media.
