Rajasthan Royals’ debutant and left-arm seamer Chetan Sakariya has had an outing to remember thus far in the team’s IPL 2021 opener against the Punjab Kings in Mumbai. Chetan Sakariya, who opened the bowling with Mustafizur Rahman, snared his first IPL wicket in the form of Mayank Agarwal. The 23-year old swore at the opening batsman after dismissing him.

The dismissal occurred in the fourth ball of the over when Chetan Sakariya delivered a wide ball outside off. Mayank Agarwal wanted to slash it through point and threw his bat; however, he only edged it to the opposing captain Sanju Samson. The left-arm seamer roared with joy after getting his maiden IPL scalp and swore at Agarwal, who had to return to the pavilion for 14 off nine deliveries with two boundaries.

Rajasthan Royals’ new captain Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to field first, backing his team to chase down. Their four overseas players for their first game of IPL 2021 are Chris Morris, Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, and Mustafizur Rahman. On the other hand, KL Rahul-led Punjab Kings opted for Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, Jhye Richardson, and Riley Meredith.

It is worth noting that Richardson and Morris were amongst the two highest-paid players in the IPL 2021 auction. Jhye Richardson, who was the highest wicket-taker in the 2020-21 Big Bash League, fetched INR 14 crores, while Chris Morris fetched a record-breaking amount of INR 16.25 crores.
