Bouncing back in style from the defeat in Manchester, India, on Sunday, thrashed England by 7 wickets to seal the three-match T20I series.

Asked to bat first, England posted a daunting 198 for 9 in the allotted 20 overs. Led by Jason Roy’s blistering 31-ball 67-run knock, England made a stunning start. However, India, led by Hardik Pandya (4-38), hit back to keep themselves in contention.

Roy and Jos Buttler came out all guns blazing.  Buttler led the way, striking seven fours on his way to a 21-ball 34. Roy, on the other hand, was also taking the Indian bowlers to the cleaners. He reached his half-century from 23 balls before being sent back by Deepak Chahar.

The loss of both openers in the space of 10 balls did little to slow England as they raced away to 118 after 11 overs. The hosts were looking set to post well in excess of 200. However, Hardik Pandya brought India in the game by dismissing  Eoin Morgan (6) and Alex Hales (30) in quick succession. England kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually restricted to just under 200.

In reply, India, led by Rohit Sharma’s unbeaten ton, chased down the total in the penultimate over. The visitors suffered an early setback as Shikhar Dhawan (5) departed cheaply. KL Rahul (19) came in and looked in good touch. However, a stunning catch from Chris Jordan cut his innings short.

But Rohit was making the most of the short boundaries from the other end. And in Virat Kohli, he found a perfect partner. The duo added 89 runs before Kohli fell. Hardik Pandya then played the role of finisher brilliantly, scoring 33 off just 14 balls to take India home. Prior to that, Rohit had completed his century off 56 balls.
