In what can be called a wonderful display of teams spirit, Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) Robin Uthappa was seen carrying the bats and helmets of captain MS Dhoni and batter Suresh Raina after the duo took the team to an easy win over Royal Challengers Bangalore the other night in Sharjah. With that victory, CSK also went back to the top of the IPL 2021 points table.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was asked to bat first by CSK captain MS Dhoni who had won the toss in Sharjah on September 24, 2021. Aided by openers Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli’s 111-run opening partnership, RCB were on route to a big score on a batting beauty of the Sharjah wicket.

But once Kohli fell for 53 and Devdutt Padikkal got out for a well-made 70 runs, the rest of the Royal Challengers Bangalore batting crumbled under the impressive bowling by Dwayne Bravo and other pacers and managed just 156/6 in 20 overs with Bravo taking 3/24 and Shardul getting 2/29.

The newly energized Chennai Super Kings openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis added 71 runs in 8 overs for the first wicket and there was no looking back for the yellow brigade from then on. Though Ruturaj fell for 38 and Faf du Plessis got out for 31, Moeen Ali (23) and Ambati Rayudu (32) ensured that CSK didn’t fell too much behind in the chase.

In the end, it was captain MS Dhoni (17* in 10 balls) and Suresh Raina (11* in 9 balls) who made sure the Chennai Super Kings reached the target with no more damage and won with 11 balls to spare and 6 wickets in hand.

This win boosted the yellow army to the top of the IPL 2021 points table with 7 wins from 9 matches and 14 points in the kitty. Dwayne Bravo was named the Player of the Match for his brilliant bowling, but the real show of sportsman spirit and team spirit was shown by Robin Uthappa.

Uthappa, who was bought by the CSK team in IPL 2021 in a trade from Rajasthan Royals, is yet to play a single game for his new franchise, was seen in a video shared on social media, carrying MS Dhoni’s helmet and then asked for Suresh Raina’s gear as well, as the duo walked back to the pavilion after the match was won.

Uthappa takes their bats and helmets and walked back to the pavilion in an ultimate show that he was a true man.
