Australia managed to get rid of Hanuma Vihari cheaply on day three of the ongoing Test against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) thanks to a stunning piece of effort from their fast-bowler Josh Hazlewood. The 30-year old, who celebrated his birthday on Friday, showed unbelievable reflexes and nailed a direct hit to claim the wicket of the India batsman.

Having scored just 4 runs off 37 balls, Hanuma Vihari decided to take a quick single in the 68th over bowled by Nathan Lyon. It was completely needless from Vihari and it didn’t take him long to realise it as he paid the big price for going for the non-existent run. The right-handed batsman came dancing down the track and pushed the ball towards mid-off.

And as soon as he hit the ball, he ran for the single. Since it was Vihari’s call, his partner Cheteshwar Pujara obliged too. In the meantime, Josh Hazlewood dived to his right and stopped the ball before brilliantly hitting the the bulls-eye at the bowler’s end.

Here is a clip of that run-out from Josh Hazlewood:

Talking about the game, India were on 188 for 4 at the time of compiling this report with Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant in the middle. Pujara was 45 while Pant was unbeaten on 34. Earlier in the day, skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Pujara started the proceedings with the bat. The partnership did not last long as Rahane chopped one on his stumps to depart for 22 before Vihari was run-out to leave the team reeling at 142 for 4.

Pujara and Pant then steadied the ship. Earlier in the game, Australia were all out for 338 in their first innings.
