World’s No.1 ranked T20I batsman Dawid Malan’s honeymoon phase seems to have finally ended as the English southpaw endured another underwhelming performance in the ongoing five-match T20I series against India.

Malan, who had managed scores of 24* (20), 24 (23), 18 (17) in the last three matches, once again struggled against spin-bowlers during England’s run-chase of 186 in the 4th T20I in Ahmedabad.

The English No.3 struggled his way to a 17-ball 14 and was dismissed by leg-spinner Rahul Chahar.

The seeds for that dismissal had, however, been sowed in the last over bowled by Shardul Thakur after Dawid Malan consistently struggled against the change-of-pace.

He did smash Thakur for a six on the third delivery but the pacer came back brilliantly by bowling three consecutive dot balls.

Rahul Chahar came into the attack in the very next over and beat Dawid Malan with a googly. He nearly got stumped as Rishabh Pant did brilliant work behind the wicket.

The next delivery proved to be death-knell as Malan went for an ill-fated reverse-sweep off another googly by Chahar. He missed it completely leading to his stumps being shattered.
