Assam and Rajasthan Royals’ all-rounder Riyan Parag played some cracking strokes during his 16-ball 25 against Royal Challengers Bangalore but none could match the MS Dhoni-esque helicopter shot that he played off Harshal Patel.
It all happened during the second ball of the 14th ball when Riyag Parag shuffled across and smashed a fullish-length delivery on the leg-stump with MS Dhoni -esque helicopter whip of the wrist.
The only difference was that while in the case of MS Dhoni, the helicopter lands in the stands or outside the stadium, in the case of Parag, the helicopter moved horizontally to kiss the boundary ropes for a four.
That said, it was Harshal Patel, who had the last laugh as he dismissed Riyan Parag on the very next delivery.
It was an unfortunate dismissal though as Riyan Parag, who had set himself up to scoop Harshal Patel over fine-leg, got a leading edge and the ball flew straight to third-man where Yuzvendra Chahal completed a regulation catch.
Parag’s dismissal brought an end to a brilliant 66-run-stand between the Assam all-rounder and Shivam Dube, who too perished shortly against Kane Richardson.
But Rahul Tewatia- 40 off 23 balls- courtesy of his pyrotechnics ensured that the Royals finished with a competitive 9/177 in 20 overs.
