India fast-bowler Jasprit Bumrah endured a tough and unrewarding day on the field on Sunday during day four of the ongoing third Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). As usual, the India pace spearhead kept bowling in the right areas consistently but did not have any wicket to show for his hard work on the field.

And what made things worse for him was the poor fielding of his teammates. As many as two clear cut chances were dropped by the Indian fielders. Jasprit Bumrah would have extended his wickets tally on just the second ball of the day when he nearly trapped Marnus Labuschagne in his plan. However, Hanuma Vihari dropped an easy catch at backward square leg.

Jasprit Bumrah’s reaction to the drop made it clear that he was not at all pleased as he covered his face with his hands in frustration. That was not it. Later in the day, Rohit Sharma too dropped a regulation catch at first slip when the right-arm pacer made Australia captain Tim Paine edge one behind the stumps.

And as nothing was going his way, Jasprit Bumrah looked visibly frustrated and it led to an uncharacteristic behaviour from him. Known for his cool and calm demeanour, he vented his frustration on the bails by taking them off in anger. It was then followed by a hilarious reaction from umpire Paul Reiffel who was surprised by Jasprit Bumrah’s action and made his feelings clear by putting his hands at his waise and looking at the bowler in surprise.
