After a promising start following their decision to bat first, Vijay Shankar struck twice to peg the Mumbai Indians back. Vijay Shankar delivered the first breakthrough for the SunRisers Hyderabad by dismissing Rohit Sharma for a 24-ball 32 in his opening over and proceeded to remove the dangerman, Suryakumar Yadav. The seam-bowling all-rounder took a reflex catch off his own bowling to get rid of Yadav.

Suryakumar Yadav opened his account via a boundary through the mid-off. In Vijay Shankar’s second over, the right-handed batsman collected a lofted six over extra cover. But Shankar bounced back by catching the ball as Yadav drove it straight back to the bowler. It was indeed a soft dismissal and one that could help them put the brakes on Mumbai Indians.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians elected to bat first after winning the toss. The defending champions made one change from the last game, drafting paceman Adam Milne for Marco Jansen. On the other hand, SunRisers Hyderabad carried out four changes to their line-up as they look for their first victory of IPL 2021. The Orange Army brought in Virat Singh, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Khaleel Ahmed, and Abhishek Sharma for Wriddhiman Saha, Jason Holder, T Natarajan, and Shahbaz Nadeem.
