Vijay Hazare Trophy 2017/18: Haryana Announce Star-Studded Team for List A Tournament

Haryana has announced a star-studded squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2017/18.

Amit Mishra has been appointed as the captain of the side which includes India internationals, Mohit Sharma and Jayant Yadav also. The squad also includes Joginder Sharma, who delivered the last of glory in the 2007 T20 World Cup final.

Mishra has been leading the squad for past few seasons when he used to be available for the team, and Jayant and Mohit have also been plying their trade in domestic cricket. However, Haryana hasn’t done well in the domestic circuit, of late.

Talking of this season, they failed to qualify for the next round of Ranji Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

The team will be hoping to do well in the List A tournament in the presence of star players. Also, with IPL coming up soon, they will also look to regain form. Mishra and Jayant will continue to play for Delhi Daredevils while Mohit Sharma too will again render his services to King XI Punjab as they used their Right to Match card on the pacer.

Also, the trio of Mishra, Mohit and Jayant will also look at this tournament to make a comeback in the national side.

Performance in this tournament can see them playing the Deodhar Trophy too, which can bring them close to national reckoning. Also, with the Indian skipper Virat Kohli looking more towards wrist spinners now, the chances of Mishra coming back can never be ruled out.

Haryana side also includes U19 player, Himanshu Rana. He played two games during the U19 World Cup.

Rahul Tewatia will be the star attraction going in the tournament. The 24-year-old leggie grabbed highlights during the IPL auction when Delhi Daredevils bought him for Rs 3 Crore. Interestingly, Mishra, Jayant and Tewatia are a part of both Haryana and DD squad and all of them are not expected to be part of the playing XI, at the same time, in both the tournaments.

Haryana will face Punjab, Baroda, Karnataka, Railways, Assam and Odisha during the league stage of the tournament. They will play all their league stage games in Bengaluru.
