Karanveer Kaushal became the first batsman to register a double century in Vijay Hazare Trophy, and he wants to be the best finisher like his idol, MS Dhoni. Uttarakhand’s batsman played brilliantly against Sikkim earlier this month and had scored 202 runs from 135 balls. Kaushal also admitted that he admires MS Dhoni who is known as the best finisher in the world.

In fact, Karanveer Kaushal became the first Indian batsman to score a double century in List-A cricket. Meanwhile, it is well known MS Dhoni is one of the best finishers of the game. Dhoni has been instrumental in providing the finishing touches to the team and has finished Indian innings on a high on numerous occasions.

“I admire Dhoni. I always wanted to bat like him and want to be a world-class finisher in the game. The way he plays, hits the ball and handles the pressure is world class. Indian cricket is lucky to have a cricketer like him. I would like to meet him someday and thank him for motivating me,” Karanveer Kaushal told to TOI on Tuesday.

Moreover, Karanveer Kaushal achieved the milestone in his seventh List-A career match. Ajinkya Rahane previously scored a sparkling 187 runs for Mumbai against Maharashtra in 2007 at Pune, which was the highest score of List-A version.

“I am really happy to break Ajinkya Rahane’s record. He is a legend of the game. If I meet Rahane someday, I will tell him about his record and will present him the scoresheet. He is a great batsman. I would love to take cricketing tips from him.” he added.

While scoring a mammoth score, the 27-year-old admitted that he had no clue of making a record of scoring a double century in List A.

“Honestly, I did not know about this record. In fact, I wasn’t aware about what the individual highest score was in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. When I notched up a double hundred and came back to the pavilion, my coaches and team-mates hugged me and told me that I am the first double centurion in Vijay Hazare Trophy history and have broken Ajinkya Rahane’s record,” Karanveer Kaushal concluded.

Meanwhile, Uttarakhand could not qualify for the knockout matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. On the other hand, Karanveer Kaushal will like to keep coming with good performances.
