The Vincy Premier T10 League couldn’t have come into force in a better time than now. Amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, fans have eagerly missed the cricketing action, which otherwise has seldom come to a halt. In light of this, the current tournament taking place in Kingstown may have lifted people’s spirits. On Friday, the competition witnessed its first-ever hattrick in the game between Salt Pond Breakers and Grenadine Divers.
Three in three by Wesrick Strough:
It was Salt Pond Breakers’ medium-pacer Wesrick Strough, who attained a breakthrough in three successive deliveries in the first game of the Vincy Premier T10 League. Strough claimed the wickets of Richie Richards, Anson Latchman and Geron Whyllie in the tenth over of the innings.
Sent into bat first, Divers got off to a good start as openers Wayne Harper and Shem Browne made 34 for the opening stand. Nevertheless, the side struggled after Browne’s departure as Romano Pierre was the only one to reach double digits. Wesrick Strough bowled just the one over in which he picked up three wickets for seven runs.

Salt Pond Breakers emerged victorious in the opening game of the Vincy Premier T10 League:
Chasing 68 in ten overs, West Indies’ star Sunil Ambris could manage only five off six deliveries as Geron Whyllie removed him. But Urnel Thomas took them over the finish line with 20 off 15 balls alongside Kadir Nedd, who scored 15 from 10. Salt Pond Breakers won a thrilling game with four balls to spare to mark their Vincy T10 Premier League campaign of this year on a winning note.
