Virushka's Wedding was Planned and Designed by a Lucknow Girl

Team India skipper Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s much-hyped wedding finally took place on Monday in Italy amidst very close family and friends.

It must be noted that the star couple’s wedding ceremony had a Lucknow connection to it, as Devika Narain, a Lucknow girl was the designer of the wedding at the Borgo Finocchieto a village in Italy’s Siena. Devika’s husband Radhik is the designated photographer for the wedding.

It was Devika’s father who confirmed that the wedding ceremony of Virat and Anushka get designed by Devika’s wedding planning company.

“We’ve been keeping a secret for a couple of months now, and all of it has come to life today, in a beautiful Tuscan village, where Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma official got married,” a Facebook post said on Devika’s company’s profile.

“We’re overwhelmed to have been chosen to be a part of such a special day. It means a lot to us to have had their trust, not just in keeping all of this a secret but to create a setting for their big day!” they further wrote.

Devika’s family revealed her assignment was kept as a secret and she told the news to her family only on Monday evening after their marriage. Her family also disclosed she had made frequent visits to Italy in the past four months.

“In recent past, Devika made frequent trips to Italy. But, she never disclosed it to us. Sometimes she said she was moving to Rome, sometimes to Paris. It was only on Monday evening when she broke the news to her grandmother confirming that they designed the grand wedding that we came to know about it,” said Pradeep, a local promoter of SPIC MACAY.

Her father revealed that Devika joining the wedding planning industry was just by chance, as her first aspiration was to be a journalist.

“After completing her schooling from Loreto Convent Intermediate College, Lucknow in 2006, she went to Lady Shri Ram College and did English honours,” he said.

However, she changed her mind and joined one of the most prominent wedding company in India where she worked for three years before settling down in her business from the past four years.

‘Devika Narain and Company was born on the dining table of a small rented apartment with a simple goal of creating spaces that were personal and uniquely Indian’ — reads the intro of Devika’s company on the website.

Following that she married Radhik who is an award-winning photographer. Her father also revealed he is also the first Indian photographer to be signed by Sony’s global brand ambassador. Before Virat and Anushka’s wedding, Devika had also planned marriages of other cricketers like Robin Uthappa and Dinesh Karthik.
