India captain Virat Kohli is known for encouraging his side. He is a passionate cricketer and hardly gives an inch. It is a huge bonus for the side as the captain of the national team leads by example with his all-round show. Now, in a chat with senior Bangladesh batsman Tamim Iqbal, Virat Kohli has credited throwdown specialist D Raghavendra for his efforts behind the scene.

D Raghavendra has been serving the national team as a throwdown specialist for quite sometime now. Due to his ability to ratchet up speed in excess of 150-155 kmph Team India batsmen have been benefited immensely. Kohli took the moment to credit the ‘unsung hero’ for his brilliance at the nets.

Virat Kohli: India has improved against fast bowling due to Raghu

Fondly called as ‘Raghu’ by the Indian cricket team members, Kohli said his side has improved against fast bowling since 2013, due to the work put in by the throwdown specialist. Further praising his abilities, Kohli said, Raghavendra has improved himself so much that from the side arm he can hurl up the speed in excess of 150kmph.

“I believe the improvement this team has shown while playing fast bowling since 2013 has been because of Raghu,” Kohli said during an Instagram Live session with Bangladesh star Tamim Iqbal.

“He has good concepts about footwork, bat movement of players. He has improved his skills so much that from sidearm he easily hurls the balls at 155 kmph.

“After playing Raghu in nets, when you go into the match, you feel there is a lot of time,” Kohli added.

Kohli, however, was not at his best during the Test series against New Zealand earlier this year. Rather leaving, he tried to play balls outside off-stump, and could not contribute much for the national team during their drubbing against the Kiwis.
