Virat Kohli, Eoin Morgan Gain In Latest T20I Rankings

Indian captain Virat Kohli and England captain Eoin Morgan moved up the ladder in the latest update of the ICC T20I rankings. Virat Kohli has had a terrific series against West Indies and a decent spell against Sri Lanka. India’s run-machine was the pick of the batsmen in the series against West Indies as he aggregated 183 runs which included two fifties. The skipper scored a staggering 94 runs in the first T20I and registered his best T20I score.

He followed it up with a quickfire 29-ball 70 in the decider. After he scored his runs at an average of 183 and a strike rate of 190.62 against West Indies, he moved up by five positions to take the 10th place in the rankings. In the T20I series against Sri Lanka, he scored a crunch 30 in the second match and 26 in the third match respectively. Now, in the latest rankings, he has moved a step ahead to take the ninth place with 683 points.

On the other hand, Eoin Morgan is ranked tenth in the latest ICC T20I rankings with 653 points. Morgan gained in the rankings after a scintillating performance during England’s tour of New Zealand. The elegant left-handed batsman accumulated 192 runs in the five T20I matches he has played for the team. He hit the peak performance in the fourth match against the Black Caps where he scored a match-winning knock of 41-ball-91 and helped the team win by 76 runs.

KL Rahul who got the opportunity to open the innings against West Indies in the absence of Shikhar Dhawan who was ruled out due to knee injury, grabbed his chance with both hands as he scored 164 runs in three innings at an average of 54.67. He also played a match-winning knock of 91 runs off just 56 in the decider. KL Rahul also showcased his mettle in the T20I series against Sri Lanka where he scored a decent 45 and a crunch 54 in the second and third match respectively. He is ranked sixth in the rankings with 760 points.

Rohit Sharma drops out of ICC T20I rankings

India’s limited-overs captain Rohit Sharma who was earlier ranked ninth in the rankings has slipped to 13th spot with 646 points. Shikhar Dhawan who scored 32 and 52 in the second and third match against Sri Lanka is ranked 15th in the latest rankings with 612 points.

As usual, Pakistan’s Babar Azam is ranked No.1 in the batting charts with 879 points, Australia’s Aaron Finch follows next on the list with 810 points.

England’s Dawid Malan takes the third spot with 782 points. New Zealand’s Colin Munro and Australia’s Glenn Maxwell take the fourth and fifth spot respectively with 780 and 766 points respectively.
