Former Pakistan skipper, Inzamam-ul-Haq admitted he has no confusion in mind that Virat Kohli is among the best batsmen in international cricket right now.

Meanwhile, with India starting its England tour later on Wednesday, the question buzzing around is over Kohli’s performance. The India skipper struggled during his last visit scoring only 134 runs in five Tests.

However, Inzamam noted even if the 29-year-old fails to have an impact this time around, it won’t sully his reputation as an elite batsman.

There is no doubt in my mind that Virat Kohli is a great player and his performances are proof of this fact,” PakPassion quotes Inzamam. “Just because he has not been able to score heavily in England does not undermine his stature as an all-time great batsman. If he is not able to put in a good performance in one or two innings, it won’t reduce his stature as a player. We know that he works hard and he continues to learn day-by-day and we saw that proof in the manner he played in South Africa where he helped his side lift their game,” he adds.

However, he warned the English side not to take him too lightly, as he can shift gears at any moment. He also added Kohli could help his team win easily in this series.

Despite the fact that he may not have a good past record there, England needs to be wary that a player of Virat Kohli’s quality can easily help his side win the upcoming series between the two sides,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, India will start its campaign against England on July 3 (Tuesday) with the first T20I in Manchester. India will play three T20Is followed by three ODIs. The limited-overs series will be followed by a five-match Test series starting from August 1.
