Virat Kohli has established himself in the cricketing folklore as one of the greatest batsmen of all time. And, he has done that through sheer grit, unrelenting hard work, and desire to become the best in the world.

Having made his debut back in 2008 against Sri Lanka, Kohli has gone from strength to strength to break and create a plethora of records and is primed to break a few more in the next few years.

Pakistan fast bowling spearhead and someone who has had many memorable battles with Virat Kohli in the past decade, Mohammad Amir has heaped high praise on the Indian legend by hailing him as the best batsman of modern-day cricket.

Mohammad Amir recently engaged in a freewheeling Instagram Live session with his fans where he answered a wide range of questions. Amir was asked about who in his view is the best-ever batsman from Pakistan and the modern-day best batsman.

Amir was quick to point out that legendary opening batsman and the ever-so stylish Saeed Anwar is the best Pakistan has ever produced besides Kohli as the best of the current era.

“My overall favorite in Pakistan is Saeed Bhai but if you talk about this era then it is Virat Kohli. There is no match to him in this era,” Amir said during an Instagram session.

Virat Kohli and Mohammad Amir have had memorable battles against each other ever since the left-arm fast bowler returned to International cricket after serving his five-year ban.

While Virat got the better of Amir during the 2016 Asia Cup and the succeeding T20 World Cup, it was Amir, who reigned supreme in the 2017 Champions Trophy Final, which Pakistan ultimately won by 180 runs.

Kohli and Amir have great mutual respect for each other. Back in 2016, Virat gifted Amir his bat as good luck gesture following the left-arm bowlers’ comeback to International cricket.

The political issues and the severing of ties between India and Pakistan have resulted in both sides playing in only ICC events and Asia Cups. And, if the Asia Cup does go ahead this year, one of the battles to look forward will be Virat Kohli and Mohammad Amir.
