Former South Africa batsman Jonty Rhodes has seen Indian cricket from very close quarters from last one decade or so. Since retiring from the game, the South African legend has been spending the better part of his life in India. In fact, he is so inspired by the country that he named his daughter India.
Jonty Rhodes was also associated with IPL outfit Mumbai Indians for nearly a decade. The four-time champions had roped him in 2009 before parting ways with him in 2017. Earlier this year, Kings XI Punjab roped him in as their fielding coach for this year’s season. The legendary South Africa recently played in the Road Safety World Series too which was called off in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

One can say that Jonty Rhodes knows very well about Indian cricket and when it comes to the most impressive Indian cricketer, he too thinks Virat Kohli is at top. But in addition to Virat Kohli, Jonty Rhodes is also impressed by two other Indian cricketers – Suresh Raina and Jasprit Bumrah.
“I feel the most powerful player in the Indian cricket team is Virat Kohli. He has been consistent with his performance and is an overall package. I also really appreciate the performance of Jasprit Bumrah and Suresh Raina. The entire Indian cricket team has a lot of potential in it,” Rhodes told The Times of India.
While Rhodes has closely seen Bumrah’s performances while working with the Mumbai Indians, he has time and again lauded Raina as one of the finest fielders in world cricket. Bumrah is one of the best pacers in the world right now across formats.
It was the IPL which gave him the platform to showcase his talent. He made his India debut in 2016 and has gone from strength to strength since then. On the other hand, Raina has fallen down the pecking order and has not played for India since 2018.
