India Cricket team skipper, Virat Kohli has begun his net training for the first time after he suffered a neck injury during the 51st match of the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL).
Meanwhile, as per reports in TOI, Kohli arrived at the Bandra Kurla Complex on Wednesday to resume his training.
Moreover, Sanjay Bangar, assistant coach of India also accompanied him during the session.
“He’s begun with a relatively lighter stint at the indoor nets. In a couple of days, he’ll be back on the field and by the end of the first two weeks (of June) – around the 15th – he’ll be in Bangalore for the fitness test and to begin training,” a source told TOI.
Kohli sustained a neck injury in a game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) while he dived to grab a catch.
However, he didn’t feel the pain back then and continued to play one more game to finish the campaign. Later, he met his doctor who advised him to take some rest before resuming his national duties.
As a result, Kohli will miss his County stint with the Surrey Cricket Club in June. The 29-year old was desperate to play in County to prepare for the England tour.
The India skipper, meanwhile, will undergo a fitness Test on June 15 at the National Cricket Academy to decide his fitness for the tour of Ireland and England.
The Indian team will play three ODIs, three T20Is and five Test matches in England. It will be an ardent test for Kohli, who struggled on his previous tour of England.
He could manage 134 runs from ten innings in five Tests at an average of 13.40, a record which he would be vying to change on the upcoming tour.
