Virat Kohli Reveals His Favourite Knock Against South Africa

India skipper Virat Kohli, on Friday, revealed his favourite knock against South Africa so far. The batting star revealed the knock while he was interacting with his IPL teammate and former South Africa captain AB de Villiers on Instagram. With not much to do around nowadays due to the lockdown, a number of cricketers have been doing live sessions as well as holding Q/A session.
Previously, Virat Kohli had interacted with his former IPL teammate Kevin Pietersen on Instagram. Coming to his favourite knock against South Africa, Virat Kohli named the knocks in the Johannesburg Test in 2013 as his favourite.
The right-handed batsman had scored 119 in the first innings of the Test and missed another ton in the game by just four runs in the second innings. The match had ended in a thrilling draw. Recalling that Test, Virat Kohli said:
“Mine would be the 2013 first Test in the Test series when I got 120 (119) and 95 (96). I got out to JP (JP Duminy), I can’t believe it second innings 95 at Johannesburg. Caught behind, you were keeping. It’s my favourite because you bowled at me as well and I didn’t get out to you.”

India had gone on to lose the second match of the two-match series by ten wickets to concede the series. Virat Kohli, nonetheless, has a stunning record against South Africa in Tests. So far, he has scored 1,075 runs in 12 games at an average of almost 60. He has scored three centuries and as many fifties with the top score of 254 not out against the Proteas.
In ODIs, he has scored 1,287 runs in 27 games at an average of more than 64. Virat Kohli has scored 4 centuries and 6 fifties against South Africa in the 50-over game.
