Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are two of the most influential figures in international cricket. Youngsters look up to them and many idolise them. Bangladesh fast bowler Mohammad Saifuddin said that he grew up watching the duo of Kohli and Rohit play, and cannot even imagine of sledging them.
Saifuddin also recalled having a chat with Rohit Sharma and telling him how fond he was of his batting ability during a practice match at Cardiff. While he also speaking about Kohli, Saifuddin said that he was very happy to dismiss the Indian captain at least once in his entire career.
“During our practice match at Cardiff, Rohit Sharma was at the striker’s end with Virat Kohli as the non-striker. I told Rohit it’s been 10 to 12 years since I’ve been watching you guys on TV, both of you are our dream cricketers. Now I’m bowling to you and I don’t know what to do,” Saifuddin was quoted as saying by BDCrictime.
“Then Rohit laughed at me and said ‘Good luck’. Then I was trying my best to make sure that I got at least one of them out. Luckily, I was able to dismiss Kohli,” Saifuddin said
“We don’t want to sledge them. We have grown up, seeing them play and we can’t imagine sledging them. Cricket is a gentleman’s game and should remain that way. Also, because there are demerit points, we have to be careful.”
Rohit Sharma has made shot-making look effortlessly easy. The opening batsman captivated the audience with his pull shot which often ends up in the second tier. Rohit Sharma usually starts off slow and accelerates once he scores his century. He has been a joy to watch over the years.
Virat Kohli, on the other hand, is a determined spirit who made his way to become one of the finest cricketers of all-time through sheer self belief and hard-work. He has made run-scoring look easy and has many records to be broken in line.
The duo will be next seen in action during the IPL 2020 in UAE.
