Virat Kohli, India and Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper is gearing up to return on the cricket field with the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League is all set to take place in the United Arab Emirates. The 53-day tournament will kickstart from September 19 and the final will take place on November 10.

The IPL Governing Council confirmed the developments officially during their meeting on August 02 and since Virat Kohli has been regularly posting about it, which just goes to show how much the Indian and Royal Challengers Bangalore [RCB] skipper is looking forward to getting back on the field.

Virat Kohli, on Sunday, took to his social media accounts to post a video of his past interviews and memorable moments while representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

“Loyalty above everything. Can’t wait for what’s to come,” Virat Kohli captioned the video.

Virat Kohli is the only cricketer in the history of the cash-rich league who has represented a single franchise for 12 consecutive seasons. Kohli came into the RCB set-up as an 18-year-old rookie back in 2008 where he played under the leadership of Rahul Dravid. Kohli was one of the few players that the Challengers retained after their squad shake-up in the 2011 IPL auctions.

And, it was pretty much evident from there that he would be leading the franchise in the near future. Under the leadership of Virat Kohli, RCB made its way to the finals in the 2016 edition. Kohli led from the front in that season, scoring a barely believable 973 runs in a single season, which also included four hundred. But despite all the heroics from Virat, RCB, as they had done in 2009 and 2011, once again faltered at the final hurdle.

Since that season, it has been pretty much gone downhill for the Kohli-led franchise as they have finished with a wooden spoon in two of the past three editions. RCB bolstered their squad with the likes of Aaron Finch, Dale Steyn, Kane Richardson, Chris Morris, Joshua Phillips in the 2020 auction and with the tournament moving to UAE this year, it will be interesting to see whether the change in venues bring a change in Virat’s fortunes as captain.
