Windies legend, Viv Richards believes Virat Kohli‘s team India has picked up the aggression of Kapil Dev led India Cricket team, and they don’t give up easily these days.
Meanwhile, team India skipper Kohli is going through a tough phase in his cricket career right now. He struggled with his side Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. He finished sixth despite putting in good performances.
Moreover, Kohli’s had to withdraw from his County Championship with the Surrey Cricket Club. He suffered a neck injury during the recently concluded IPL and had to skip the stint.
Further, he will also miss the upcoming one-off Test against Afghanistan. Afghanistan will play their first Test against India starting from June 14 in Bengaluru.
Kohli is an exciting player
Richards has termed the 29-year old Kohli as an ‘exciting’ player. He also said the team used to be fragile when the sledging factor came into play.
“What I know for sure is that he (Kohli) is an exciting player, and I remember in the past, the Indian team used to be very fragile in terms of when the sledging factor came into play, there were some fragileness attached to Indian teams,” Richards said to News18.
The 66-year old also said Kapil Dev established a competitive avenue for Indian cricket. The former Caribbean cricketer also added the Indian cricketers have become more resilient than before.
“The Indian players have become quite resilient. They do not back down quite easily these days,” he concluded.
