Former Indian opener, Virender Sehwag has lashed out at SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) fro choking in the death overs against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and losing the game from a winning position. On Saturday, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) took on SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in match 43 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020).

Batting first, KXIP could manage to score only 126 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. However, they bowled out SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) on 114 runs to earn a 12-run victory and go on the fifth spot in the IPL 2020 points table. At one stage, SRH looked in a comfortable position to win the game as they had to score 26 runs off 24 balls with 6 wickets in hand.

Virender Sehwag Lashes Out At SunRisers Hyderabad

Speaking to Cricbuzz, Virender Sehwag said, “I couldn’t understand what SunRisers Hyderabad were trying to do as they lost the match in a run-a-ball situation. Had the target been too much to chase, the loss would still have digested. SRH dug their own grave on the field with such a performance.”

“Someone had to take the responsibility from the front and it could either have been Manish Pandey or Vijay Shankar but no one did it. Even Jason Holder and Rashid Khan are the skippers of their respective national teams and thus, they could have batted more responsibly. All the batsmen seemed in a hurry to finish the match,” Virender Sehwag added.

It’s Hard To Comprehend Such A Performance: Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag further stated, “Its difficult for people like us to comprehend such a performance. They were in a very comfortable position to win the match as SRH needed only 26 runs in 24 balls. Kings XI Punjab didn’t have such quality bowling line up. The only probable reason that I can foresee is the slowness in the pitch. However, SRH has a very strong batting line up and they should have won the game from the position they were in. VVS Laxman is like an elder brother but I believe he will be back to India on November 5.”

With this win over SRH, KXIP have now gone on the fifth spot in the IPL 2020 points table as they have now managed to win 5 games in the tournament, with 4 of them coming in the last four games.
