Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has backed an under-fire Kedar Jadhav to come good in the upcoming games for Chennai Super Kings. Virender Sehwag has also advised skipper MS Dhoni to support the veteran batsman instead of leaving him out. Chennai Super Kings have lost four out of the six games in IPL 2020 and will have an uphill task qualifying for this year’s playoffs.

Kedar Jadhav’s cautious approach against Kolkata Knight Riders came under criticism when Chennai Super Kings needed boundaries desperately. The 34-year old played 12 deliveries and managed only seven runs as the yellow army fell short by ten runs in pursuit of 168 in Abu Dhabi. The three-time champions flustered in the chase while having the upper hand for the most part.

Kedar Jadhav’s gameplay was highly condemned while the management’s tactics also got questioned for sending him ahead of Dwayne Bravo. With Chennai Super Kings set to take Royal Challengers Bangalore in Abu Dhabi next, the Maharashtra-born cricketer could likely retain his spot, owing to the absence of a like-for-like replacement.

Virender Sehwag reminded the critics that Kedar Jadhav has played for India and is still a part of the national setup. Sehwag feels that he should be Chennai’s playing eleven and needs a little push from the skipper to do better. He wishes for Jadhav to find his form in the upcoming games.

Jadhav has played for India in the past and is still a part of the national setup. He should be in the playing XI for CSK but he does require a little motivation from the skipper Dhoni so that he can do better. He might have flopped in one or two matches but I hope in the coming matches he will do well,” Sehwag stated as quoted by Times Now.
