The India team might have to deal with an injury issue ahead of the first T20 International against Ireland on Wednesday. Washington Sundar has hurt his ankle and is now doubtful for the series opener.

The young all-rounder hobbled off the field within India’s first hour of training at The Village in Malahide. He participated in the warm-up football game, as well, as the fielding drills for a little time. However, the cause of his injury is unclear.

But while the cause is unclear, one thing is sure that Sundar was having trouble with his right ankle, as he needed help from two support staff members to get off the field. The BCCI or the team management is yet to release any official word on the all-rounder.

An injury at this stage would be a big blow for Sundar. He was one of the best performers in the Nidahas Trophy, and another impressive outing would have all but sealed his spot in the playing eleven.

In the Nidahas Trophy featuring hosts Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, he was the highest wicket-taker. Sundar took eight wickets in five games and ended the competition at an amazing economy-rate of under six.

Meanwhile, India will be looking to make a winning start to their long tour to the United Kingdom.

After the two-match series against Ireland, India will travel to England for a full-fledged series. Virat Kohli & Co. will take on England in three T20Is, three ODIs and five Tests.
